Message from the
Superintendent of Schools
Dear
Parents/Guardians, Staff,
Students and Community Members:
It is February and we have
already passed the half way mark
in the school year.
Due to computer problems, report
cards at the high school will be
delayed. For all other
schools, please be on the
lookout for your child's report
card. It you have not
received one, please call your
child's school. This is
also the time of year when
schools begin to step up their
attention on student MCAS test
taking skills. The
district has planned extra help
for students beginning shortly
that will provide students with
extra support. Students
will also receive additional
help in the basic subject areas
that MCAS will assess in the
months to come. Please
look for further
information regarding MCAS
preparation programs coming from
your child's school.
February is
also the month when all of the
great volunteers at the Dracut
Scholarship Foundation begin the
arduous task of preparing for
the telethon. This
incredible Dracut tradition has
earned thousands of dollars for
our student scholars. I
urge you to watch the telethon
March 16-19, 2010 to make
donations of prizes and to make
purchases that help support our
students. You will be
amazed at the talent and fun
that is televised that week!
A tremendous "thank you" to
everyone who helps to make this
annual event a major success!
The
mid-year vacation will be during
the week of February 15th and
schools will re-open on February
22nd. At the end of the
month Kindergarten registrations
will take place. Parker
will take place on the 22nd,
Campbell will take place on the
23rd, Brookside will take place
on the 24th, and Greenmont on
the 25th. All
registrations begin at 7:00 p.m.
Although
February is a short month, there
is a lot happening in the public
schools. Be sure to
check your child's schools web
site and look for newsletters
that will be coming home from
the schools.
Have a
happy and safe mid-year break!
