Message from the Superintendent
of Schools
Dear Campbell School Parents:
I want to thank all parents who have attended School Committee
meetings expressing their concerns regarding potential increased
class sizes at the Campbell School. I want to ensure you that your
concerns are of the utmost importance to us. We need parent
participation to support the school system through volunteering,
offering feedback, and advocating for adequate funding. Presently,
our funding is increasingly limited and further reductions are on
the horizon for at least the next two years.
As we approach the opening of the 2011-2012 school year, the
administration team in the Dracut Public Schools has taken a close
look at student enrollment throughout the district and especially
the Joseph A. Campbell School. We have managed a variety of urgent
needs and ongoing reform efforts in the district. There will be
additional challenges in meeting personnel and programming needs
this year.
As the Superintendent of Schools, I am proposing to the Dracut
School Committee to add additional paraprofessionals to the
elementary classrooms in the second and third grades at the Campbell
School. These paraprofessionals will assist classroom teachers to
support these teachers as they manage their classrooms this year.
We will watch carefully as the year begins to determine if the needs
are adequately being met. Student enrollment will continue to be
monitored throughout the school year. Should there be a dramatic
increase to student enrollment, please know that the administrative
team, as well as the Dracut School Committee, will address the
possible needs as they arise.
I want to welcome all of our families back for an exciting new
school year.
Sincerely,
Stacy L. Scott

Welcome to the Joseph A. Campbell Elementary School The school where learning adventures begin.
The Campbell Elementary School staff and faculty aim to create a school environment that enhances learning and develops well-rounded students. Campbell School students will demonstrate positive social skills and a positive academic work ethic that will enable them to achieve excellence.
Our goals include preparing our students for their future as happy, responsible and productive citizens. These goals can be achieved by focusing on the individual child and on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks to develop academic skills, social skills, independence, and self-confidence. In addition, all members of the Campbell School Community strive to instill a love of learning, respect for oneself and others, and to accept individual differences and diversity.
The Campbell School has established high standards of achievement and social interactions for all students. Students are encouraged to develop and expand their intellectual skills, curiosity and abilities. The Campbell School is a child-centered educational environment that is designed to excite and accommodate individual learning styles in a manner that will establish a solid foundation for each unique student to become a life-long learner.
All members of the Campbell School Community work cooperatively to foster a purposeful and successful learning experience for all students.
