Principal’s Newsletter. Fall, 2011
Progress reports at DHS. Students will
receive progress reports on Friday, October 14, 2011. Please be sure to review
these reports with your child and contact our teachers with any questions you
may have.
SATs at Dracut High School. Dracut High School
will be the site for SAT's on Saturday, November 5, 2011. Student MUST register
by the October 7, 2011 deadline. See your counselor for more information.

Re-Designed Dracut High School. Dracut High
School will enjoy a renovation over the next few years thanks to the vote
earlier this month. We expect the building will be designed for the next
generation of Dracut students. This is an exciting development for everyone in
Dracut. Please watch the Dracut Public Schools website page for further
developments.

History/Social Studies. Six members of the DHS
History Department are participating in a multi-year Teaching American History
Grant Program along with teachers from eight other Massachusetts high schools.
The participating teachers are Mary Carney, Paula McCabe, Mike Saucier, Kellie
Soukaras, Caleb Hand, and Ken Hughes. This grant will serve to make our
excellent History Department even better for all DHS students.
PTO Meetings. I hope all interested parents
will attend PTO meetings beginning in September Meetings are generally
held on the last Tuesday of the month.
MCAS Exam scores will be available sometime in
September.
MCAS English, Math, and Science Exams were given to all sophomores this
year. As parents know, students must receive a passing score on all three
exams as part of their requirement to receive a Dracut High School Diploma.
Scores usually are reported in late September and every parent will receive
his/her child's scores in the fall.
.Report Cards . Report cards are
issued quarterly at Dracut High School. The date for the first quarter
report cards is November 17, 2011.
NEASC Visit to Dracut High. A team of educators
representing the New England Association of Schools and Colleges will be
visiting Dracut High School from September 25, 2011 to September 28,
2011 to conduct its decennial accreditation visit. The team will release
its report to the Dracut community later in the school year. Look to our
website for more information about this important visit.
Athletic and Student Insurance. For the 2011-0012
school year, Lefebvre Insurance will be Going Green. The insurance
company will not be printing paper brochures this school year. All
insurance coverage will be at the same premiums and benefits as the
