As administrators, we would like to welcome you to Englesby Intermediate School... Home of the EIS Eagles. Englesby Intermediate School, a northern suburb of Boston, is located in Dracut, Massachusetts, close to the New Hampshire border. Presently, there are some 657 students taught by some 55 staff members. Englesby is one of seven schools in the community: 4 elementary (grades K-4), 1 intermediate (5-6), 1 junior high school (7-8), and 1 high school (9-12).
At our intermediate school, students take a variety of challenging courses including: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. They also complete work in Art, Computers (in a state of-the-art lab), physical education, music and library. After school, our students have the opportunity to participate in grade 5 and grade 6 Bands, Chorus, Strings, as well as a variety of other free of charge activities.
In addition, throughout the year, students have fun at Friday Activity Nights and Saturday Ski Trips to Pats Peak in New Hampshire.
We have a dedicated and committed staff that enjoys working with and instructing the 10-12 year old age group. As a result, our students receive a quality education, one that prepares them well for junior high school. This is certainly due to the hard work of staff members; extra tutoring sessions offered both during and after school and the ample supply of materials and use of technology, all directly linked to improving student achievement.
During our first eight years of existence as an intermediate school, Englesby has earned the praise, positive feedback and admiration of students, parents, staff and community. This is attributable to our team effort, one that features a hands-on, no-nonsense, educationally stimulating and fun approach to education.
