Welcome to the Greenmont Avenue Elementary School web site!  We are excited that you have taken this opportunity to explore and discover what makes the Greenmont School a very special and unique place of life long learning.  As the Principal of a school with a caring and committed staff, a supportive and active parental community and a wonderfully curious and creative student body, I truly enjoy my job and am very excited to come to work everyday.  While I will be the first to admit there are times when the amount of paperwork can seem daunting and even sometimes distracting from our central mission and vision, engaging students in the classroom, hallways, during lunchtime and recess can bring a clarity to the passion in education we all seek as educators.  Day in and day out we make the connections with kids, the “AHA” moments that make even the most challenging experiences seem worthwhile.  It is through reflecting on these many challenges and “AHA” moments and in talking with students, families and staff that I have drawn the following conclusions about our critically important role as educators.  Just some thoughts:

*Each and every child truly is unique and remarkable in their very own special ways. It is our responsibility to discover and acknowledge that uniqueness in each and nourish its growth!

*It’s not work that drives us, it’s the passion, the desire from within to teach, to learn and to listen that motivates us to come back day after day!

*Those truly great educators combine the creativity and passion of an artist with the precision and instincts of a scientist!

*Schools are built for children..stop, truly listen and learn from their voices!

*We are always espousing to our students the importance of learning as a continual process..as educators, we must continually practice what we preach!

*Children are far more resilient and insightful than we will ever know and give them credit for!

*Children feeling connected, feeling valued, feeling respected are the keys to academic success at any level!

Once again, I hope you take the time to get to know the Greenmont School and all that makes it unique and special.  I feel honored and proud to be the Principal of a building with such a proud history of excellence in education and have devoted my tenure to continuing this established tradition.  As a community comprised of Greenmont students, families and staff, it is our goal to continue to examine and refine our current practice with the promise to always providing the highest quality educational experience for each and every student who has the opportunity to call the Greenmont “My School!”
