Principal’s Welcome
On
behalf of the faculty and support staff, welcome to the Lakeview
Junior High School Website. As the lone junior high school in
Dracut, we serve approximately 700 students in grades 7 and 8.
Students complete year-long courses in English Language Arts,
Mathematics (Pre-algebra or Algebra), Science, Social Studies,
Foreign Language (French or Spanish), and Physical Education in
addition to sampling exploratory classes in Art, Music, Health,
Computers, and Family and Consumer Science. Many Lakeview students
also participate in our band, strings, and chorus offerings to
complete their school day. Additionally, we offer a wide variety of
extra-curricular activities that include sports, academic clubs,
interest/hobby activities, drama productions, and academic support
sessions.
The junior high school years are
critical to the personal development of your student and the staff
at Lakeview takes our role very seriously. Students, teachers,
administrators and other staff are empowered to make decisions in a
supportive atmosphere of mutual respect and acceptance. Due to the
competitive nature of our educational, vocational and occupational
systems, the students we serve need to be thoroughly prepared for
the challenges of high school in order to have the opportunity to
experience success and achieve their goals. We can assure you that
our staff works diligently daily to effectively prepare our students
for academic rigor and the skills needed to be productive members of
the Dracut Community. The facilitation of the personal development
of your student is at the heart of what we do at Lakeview.
Lakeview encourages active
learning for all of our students and faculty. Faculty members are
role models and mentors for students to inspire a love of learning
and the philosophy that this is a lifelong process. The
intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and moral development of
our 12 to 14 year olds is a critical responsibility that drives our
faculty’s actions. Lakeview Junior High School balances high
expectations and self-esteem, inclusion and individual learning
styles and abilities; with the rights, privileges, and
responsibilities of all members of the school community.
In order to reach our idealistic
goals during these challenging economic times requires an abundance
of creativity and hard work. I am blessed with a tremendous faculty
who I believe can make the Lakeview vision a reality for our
students. The parents and community members I have met with thus
far are superior in their support of the Lakeview Community. The
African Proverb “It takes a village to raise a child” is something
we should all keep in mind as we facilitate the personal growth of
OUR STUDENTS. Any great organization is driven by teamwork; working
together OUR STUDENTS will succeed.
Please contact me at 978-957-3330
or
rfitzgerald@dracutpublicschools.net if I can be of any
assistance to you. Thank you in advance for both your support and
the interest you have vested in the Lakeview Community.
