Dracut Public Schools Special Education Department Preschool 2009-2010 “Role Model” Openings The Dracut Public School Special Education Department has a limited number of slots available in its Integrated Preschool Programs for 3 year old (by August 31, 2009) “role model” children; or children who demonstrate appropriate social, behavioral, and communication skills. The IPP exists to support the needs of special education children identified by the district, in accordance with State and Federal law. The program operates 3 mornings per week for 2.5 hours per session. The tuition is $13.20 per day. Applications will be accepted, reviewed, and accepted on a first come, first served basis beginning immediately. Completed applications must be returned in person to the Special Education Office for consideration. Dracut Public Schools Integrated Preschool Registration PROGRAM INFORMATION 2010-2011 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Dracut Integrated Preschool Program (IPP) was created to provide opportunities for children with disabilities to receive specialized instruction and services in an environment that includes peers with developmentally appropriate social/behavioral, and communication skills.
PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY: The Integrated Preschool Program strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children. The program facilitates growth and development in both special needs children and the model students through the use of developmentally appropriate and professionally recognized practices and techniques. ROLE MODEL STUDENT PARTICIPATION: Openings in the Integrate Preschool Program (IPP) exist for “role model” children, or children who demonstrate appropriate social, behavioral, and communication skills. The IPP exists to support the needs of special education children identified by the District, in accordance with State and Federal law. PROGRAM FOR THREE (3) YEAR OLDS Your child must be three (3) years old by August 31, 2010. If chosen, they will be assigned to attend either: The Campbell Elementary School 8:45 a.m.- 11:20 a.m. The Brookside Elementary School 8:00 a.m.- 10:35 a.m. Placement in specific programs is based on programmatic decision making. The three year old program operates three days per week for the duration of the school year. PROGRAM FOR FOUR (4) YEAR OLDS Your child must be four (4) years old by August 31, 2010. If chosen, they will be assigned to attend either: The Campbell Elementary School 12:25 p.m. - 2:55 p.m. The Brookside Elementary School 11:40 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Placement in specific programs is based on programmatic decision making. The four year old program operates four days per week for the duration of the school year. TRANSITION: Students in good standing within the three year old program are allowed to transition to the four year old program in advance of the following school year. TRANSPORTATION: Transportation is not provided by the District. LOTTERY: Students are selected for the Preschool Program through a Lottery. The Lottery for the 2009-2010 school year will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in the Brookside Elementary School library at 5:00 p.m. Parents are invited to attend.
TUITION: $13.20 per day The total projected tuition cost for the three year old program is $1,280.40. The total projected tuition cost for the four year old program is $1,782.00. Ø Initial payment must be equal to 50% of the total tuition cost, due no later than August 20, 2010. Ø Second payment must be equal to 25% of the total tuition cost, due no later November 19, 2010. Ø Third payment must be equal to 25% of the total tuition cost, due no later than March 15, 2011.
-Continued attendance is contingent upon individual accounts remaining in good standing. Role Model students are subject to immediate termination from the program if tuition payments are delinquent. -Snow days are not to be deducted from an individual month’s bill as those days are made up within the school year. -Days that children do not attend due to illness are not deductible. -Children identified as Special Needs children or children with disabilities serviced by a Section 504 Accommodation Plan are ineligible to become Model Students. -Subsequent to acceptance in the program, if a child is identified as a child with special needs, that child would become ineligible as a Model Student. Those students would be provided services in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 Accommodation Plan. -Subsequent to acceptance and/or participation in the program, if a child demonstrates behavioral and/or social interactions that are not developmentally appropriate, the District reserves the right to exclude that child from the program.
Dracut Public Schools Integrated Preschool Registration 2010-2011
The Dracut Public Schools Special Education Department is seeking applications for preschool aged children who are residents of Dracut to act as “Model Students” within the Special Education Department’s Integrated Preschool Program for the 2010-2011 school year. Children must be age three by August 31, 2010 to qualify and enter the three-year-old program lottery (3 days/week). Children must be age four by August 31, 2010 to qualify and enter the four-year-old program lottery (4 days/week). Model Students must be able to demonstrate developmentally appropriate communication, social, and behavioral skills. Open registration will take place on Wednesday, March 31st and Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 10:00AM-4:00PM at the Special Education Office in the Eldridge Administration Building, 2063 Lakeview Avenue. Only parents or legal guardians of eligible children may submit application packets. At the time of registration, applicants must bring: 1. Two pieces of documentation confirming residency in Dracut -Drivers License -Utility or Tax Bill, etc. 2. Immunization Records 3.
